The French national team have been hit with another injury to one of its key players just a few hours before the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup that will be hosted in Qatar.

Real Madrid's forward player, Karim Benzema has been ruled out of the World Cup and will not be available for France after picking up an injury in training. The 35-year-old dream of ever winning the most prestigious competition in the world of football seems to be officially over.
Benzema shared an emotional message on his official Instagram account on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 to supporters of the French national team. He expressed his disappointment that he will not be playing at the World Cup but he also wished France all the best.
In my life, I have never given up but tonight I have to think of the team as I have always done so reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our group to make a great world cup. Thank you for all your messages of support.
The injury to Benzema is a big blow for France but their supporters will hope the team can defend their title. France have been grouped alongside Denmark, Australia and Tunisia.
